I wrote a little script to download the videos on stage6.com

Project thesis

Done!
Yeah...finally I'm ready with my project thesis. But there is some bad aftertaste, my tutor didn't send my a feedback. He only had a rush look on it and so still I don't know what is good or what is bad. Nevertheless I'm ready and will hand it in.

For the ones, who didn't know of my thesis I wrote about the "theoretical aspects of a wireless intrusion detection system".

Today is the IWD and almost everybody knows what's so special about this day, but there are some exceptions. And this is a short story about one.

Two people, a younger one, at least 20 years old and an older one, are taking about something very uninteresting and the topic switches to the IWD. The younger person asks, what the IWD is and the older one explains it in 2 sentences. Then the younger one asks, what he should do on this special day with his girl friend. The older one, says don't you known? And the other replied, going to a swinger club with her? And this was a serious question.

That is too great!

And rememeber the 14th March is steak and blowjob day.

(La)TeX error: ! Missing $ inserted

This error is displayed, when (La)TeX tries to correct you. My problem was that I had an url like http://example.de/foo_bar_blubb.html and TeX look to it and see it as math and tried to correct me. But TeX is wrong!
The solution to this problem is to escape the underscores

http://example.de/foo_bar_blubb.html

Now your .tex compiles without an error.

Today I was waiting for my last train at the platform, when an announcement came that told me, that the last train is not coming because of some damages to the train.
Angry and without a choice I had to call a cab. When the cab arrives the driver told me, that because of a possible suicide no train leaves the main station.
What the fuck?!?
First, dear Deutsche Bahn, why are you always lying! Just tell the truth and people don't get so upset. And don't tell everyone that you don't know about the bad condition of your rails. Because you know that!
So dear suicide, please don't plan to kill yourself cause this is no solution to any problem! And if you plan to do it, don't jump in front of train, because you also hurt other people, like the conductor or the passengers, who can get a trauma. Or me, who is very angry, because his train is not coming. And you ow me the check to the cab!

So suicide is no solution! Please don't do that, if you need help, there are more than enough people, who are willing to help you. Sometimes you just have to ask!
news that sounds like advertisment

It seems to me that more and more news and articles on various sites sound like a advertisment. Is this just a imagination? Or do you feel the same?
uptime of a remote host

Sometimes the uptime of a remote host can be interesting. Most of the system behave RFC 1323 conform, like Linux, FreeBSD. So you can read the uptime out of the tcp timestamp. That's quite easy with hping.

hping --tcp-timestamp -S -p

To disable that behavior just set
on Linux

#echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_timestamps

on FreeBSD

# sysctl net.inet.tcp.rfc1323=0

On OpenBSD you have to enable this feature, it is disabled by default. Even Cisco is disabling this on some their equipment. I have done tests on some cisco's
capture 802.11 frames with tcpdump/wireshark

If you want to capture 802.11 frames with tcpdump or wireshark on FreeBSD, you have to set the
wireless interface in the monitor mode

# ifconfig mediaopt monitor channel up

Use

# tcpdump -i ath0 -L
Data link types (use option -y to set):
EN10MB (Ethernet)
IEEE802_11 (802.11)
IEEE802_11_RADIO (802.11 plus BSD radio information header)

for seeing what kind of frames you can dump.
And than use

# tcpdump -i ath0 -vvv -n -y IEEE802_11_RADIO

for capturing.
In the case you want to capture frames with wireshark, start wireshark under root, go to capture -> options. Then choose your interface and the header link type and then push start.
